Q. What is a diamond cut alloy wheel?
A. If you look very closely at a diamond cut alloy wheel you’ll see it has very faint circles, very similar to an old style record, there’s a photo at the top of this page which shows one.
Q. How long will the repair last?
A. Diamond cut alloy wheels are not as resistant to damage as a painted wheel. Once the lacquer is damaged water and salt will get into your wheels and damage the diamond cut surface. You’ll see white powder on parts of the wheel. Diamond cut alloy wheels just aren’t suitable for high mileage cars or cars used a lot in the UK. Even the smallest stone chip or scratch will start to damage your finish.
Q. How good will the finish be?
A.That depends on the damage, the quality and the age of your diamond cut alloy wheel. If your wheel is old or badly damaged you might find, even when they have been repaired, that there small pits in the alloy wheel. Also high quality alloy wheels will give a far better finish..
Q. I’ve had my diamond cut wheels repaired before, can you do it again?
A. It depends on the quality of your alloy wheel and how deep the damage goes. This is because the cutting removes a thin layer of metal every time you have your diamond cut alloy wheels repaired. Eventually further cutting will leave your wheel weakened. We’ll let you know if we don’t think it can be done safely.
Q. Can all wheels be diamond cut?
A. No, some are just too complicated to lathe, It depends on the profile of the wheel, although most can have the rim diamond cut. Again we’ll tell you if it can’t
Q. How long will you take to repair my diamond cut wheels?
A. We say approximately 4 working days, although it can be longer. We’ll let you know when we inspect your wheels and we’ll try to get them done quicker
Q. Will you guarantee my diamond cut wheels?
A. We will, but it is a limited 3 months warranty.
Q. How much will it cost to repair my diamond cut alloy wheels?
A. We have a flat rate for Diamond cut alloy wheel repairs – see our prices page
